The deed was done just a few hours after the dry run started for the reopening of Boracay.
Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 kilometers south of Manila. Its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies. The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak in the municipality of Malay, in Aklan Province.
We all know that it was recently closed for 6 months starting April 26 because President Rodrigo Duterte recognizes it as a cesspool. It was fully closed to tourism for the said duration to cleanse and let the island regenerate its beauty.
Now a post from Cherie Mercado, a Filipina broadcast journalist in the Philippines easily spread the internet. It is about the recently opened Boracay. The caption says:
“Few hours after the dry run started for the reopening of Bora, a resident took pictures of plastics back in the beach front. Seryoso ba Kayo? It’ll take two weeks to make it dirty again”
It includes these pictures:
Of course many netizens would be enraged because everyone expected people to be more disciplined towards Boracay’s cleanliness after being closed by 6 mos.
These are some of the reactions of the Netizens:
People have mixed reactions, some say that Filipinos have no discipline, some suggested different ideas to improve cleanliness. But the most thing that piqued our interest is the one’s claiming that it might be a planted evidence just to degrade Boracay. Someone pointed fingers that it might be done by LP, an enemy party list of the current President. What do you guys think?
