This is all over social media, news and headline and it is not a joke. Eleven (11) cities of the Philippines s really part of the “Cities In Southeast Asia With The Cleanest Air”. This list is according to IQAir Airvisual 2018 World Air Quality Report.
First in the said list is the city of Calamba, Laguna. It is located on the southern part of Luzon. The said city is followed by the city of Velenzuela and Carmona, Cavite.
After that Paranaque got the fifth place, Davao on the sixth and Makati as the 7th City. The City of Manila and Mandaluyong also made it to the top having the 8th and 9th place. It also includes Balanga on the 12th place, Quezon City on the 13th and Las Pinas on the 15th.
In this said result, people cannot believe that these cities are really on the top. Some comments goes like this:
“Can’t imagine cleanest air around Metro Manila? A lot of city in the province with cleanest environment and city… Even the air isvery fresh… How come they’re not included? North Luzon Province, South Luzon Province, Visayas and Mindanao provinces…”
“Mas malinis pa hangin ng Maynila kaysa dito sa Singapore? Uso na ba talaga mga sinungaling ngayon. Dito sa Singapore kapag nangulangot ka medyo maputi, diyan sa Maynila kapag nangulangot ka, itim.”
“Congrats po sa 11 Lungsod na nabanggit dito, kabilang na po ang Quezon City at ang lungsod ng aking kapanganakan, Las Pinas City.”
Yet after all these criticism, many netizens also told that the basis on the list PM2.5.
“Ang sinasabi dito is yung air pollutant na PM2.5, or yung tinatawag na FINE DUST, ‘yung parang HAZE na hindi nawawala agad. My GOODNESS! Please naman, mag research kayo. At maging masaya kayo dahil it means, hindi tayo mapapahamak agad dahil sa bad air quality.”
