As part of their 10th year celebration, Spring Films coordinated with Korean director Kim Tai-Sik for this Filipino-Korean movie.
Spring Films, the Filipino Studio that has released Pinoy-loved movies such as “Kimmy Dora” trilogy and “Kita Kita,” is celebrating their 10th year anniversary in the industry. After a decade, Spring Films is finally spreading its wings and going for the big leagues. Together with Korean Studio Film Line Pictures, they are about to release a Korean-Filipino movie this coming June. “Sunshine Family” revolves around a Filipino family returning to the Philippines after staying in South Korea for 5 years. Sunshine Family is an adaptation of the 1992 Japanese film “Hikinige Family,” or “Hit-and-Run Family.”
Spring Films collaborated with award-winning Korean director Kim Tai Sik, whose works include Driving with My Wife’s Lover (2006), Red Vacance Black Wedding (2011), and Heartbreak Hotel (2015). Filipina actress Sue Ramirez is part of the cast of the film Sunshine Family, together with Nonie Buencamino, Shamaine Centenera, and Marco Masa are also part of the Pinoy cast. Shinwoo of K-Pop group Blanc7 is also in the film as Sue’s love interest!
“Sunshine Family” is a comedy-drama that tells the story of Don and Sonya Mapalad (Nonie and Shamaine Buencamino), and their children Shine (Sue Ramirez) and Max (“Your Face Sounds Familiar” fan-favorite Marco Masa). A partly-dysfunctional family living in Korea for the past five years, the family’s plans of going back home to the Philippines get challenged after Don and Sonya is involved in a hit-and-run accident. The film was filmed entirely in Seoul and Yangpyeong County. On the other hand, Shinwoo is a police officer investigating the hit-and-run, but gets to meet Shine and falls in love with her.
Will the family get over their problems, or will they suffer the consequences of their actions? Many Filipino and Korean fans are looking forward to the film’s release on June 5, 2019!
